I just read a great history of Owasippe on MLive. It is rare to read such a long article online these days. There is great history and memories in the article that bring this historic BSA camp to life as it celebrates its 100 anniversary. It also covers how the local township stopped the sale of the camp to residential developers by enforcing their zoning in court and how BSA volunteers turned over their board in Chicago. The Council is now planning to keep most of the camp and working with The Nature Conservancy to find a conservation buyer for portions of the camp. You can view my personal photo album from photographing the camp the last couple years on Facebook.
