Here is a disappointing article from April about The Trust for Public Land’s plans to buy 1,200 acres of Boy Scouts of America’s Buckskin Council’s camp for inclusion in the National Park Service because of federal cost cutting. The good news is that the Council President says they are in a good financial position and in no hurry to sell the property.
There isn’t much details in this article, but from several other sources on the web, the 1,200 acres seem to be part of Dilley’s Mill Scout Camp. Several years ago BSA Buckskin Council looks to have voted to sell three of their camps. I’m researching to see what else I can learn about this. To read the article, click here.

BTW, this is the email I sent the Council requesting more information. I also forwarded it to TPL. — I am the editor for a blog called SaveCamps.org. I wrote a short article about the possible sale of 1,200 acres of your camps to TPL. There wasn’t too much information on the web and was wondering if you could give me more details to publish? BTW, I’m happy your Council would look to sell this property into public lands instead of developers. If you have to sell, at least the open space and public access including scouts will be maintained.
