Did you ever spend time at Camp Eagle Island on Upper Saranac Lake, New York? The Friends of Eagle Island, Incorporated will hold its official gathering on Saturday, April 2 from 1 to 4 pm at Morrow Church in Maplewood. 600 Ridgewood Rd. 07040. Everyone who has been a camper, counselor, or parent of a camper; anyone who has attended Family Camp or Women’s Weekend; and anyone else who is a fan of the camp is invited to attend.
Eagle Island has been a Girl Scout camp serving local girls for 70 years. Located on Upper Saranac Lake in New York State, it was gifted to the Girl Scouts of the Oranges and Maplewood in 1937 by Henry Graves, Jr. of Orange. On October 11, 2010, the governing board of the Girl Scouts Heart of New Jersey Council (GSHNJ) voted to sell Eagle Island.
The Friends of Eagle Island, Inc. is a recently incorporated non-profit group of campers, alumnae, and supporters who are working to acquire Eagle Island and who hope to operate it as a premier camp for girls along with offering other programs such as family camp, women’s weekends, and work weekends. We intend to continue the legacy gift of the Graves family, to protect the National Historic Landmark Status of the original Adirondack Great Camp buildings and to conserve pristine island property. We invite all supporters to join us in this effort. Check our website www.friendsofeagleisland.org for more information.

Good luck! I want my daughter to attend camp at EIC! I was a camper, and counselor there in the 1970′s along with my twin sister Barbara. We made lifelong frinds there! Le me know if there are any opportunities to visit the camp with my family.
