The 360-acre Joy Hollow Girl Scout Camp in Iowa is at risk of closing. Posters at a packed meeting of a crowd of 125 people read “We sell cookies, why sell our camp?” and “Our hearts would be hollow without Joy Hollow”.
Girl Scouts of Greater Iowa (GSGI) is looking at options for Joy Hollow Camp, the Girl Scout camp in the Loess Hills near Westfield, according to the article “Emotions run high at Joy Hollow meeting“.
One woman in the crowd said she understood the direction of national Girl Scouts but didn’t agree with it.
“The direction national is going is the wrong direction,” she said. “Who’s going to stand up to the national council and say, ‘you all are going down the wrong path’?”
